Slice of Life #6: Comfort List

Everyone around me at work has been sick for the last month. I've managed to escape it so far, but there are some early symptoms that tell me I may have been found by the bug.

Here are ten things that comfort me when I'm not feeling well.

1) Old television favorites like The Golden Girls and Who's The Boss.
2) New television favorites like The New Normal and Treme.
3) Cranberry juice - and lots of it.
4) Sleep - and lots of it.
5) Quiet.
6) Tylenol/Advil.
7) Old photo albums of vacations with my grandparents and times with my family.
8) A good book or a challenging puzzle.
9) Tangerines.
10) Lots of pillows.

And if you're a teacher, you probably understand that sometimes it's better just to go to work than to bother with writing sub plans.

  1. I love your list of 10. I love hot tea and buttery toast when I'm sick -- always reminds me of my mom taking care of me when I was home with a bug. Hope you're able to avoid getting sick -- it's definitely much easier to just stay at work! Thanks for sharing your slice. :)

  2. I am sorry your caught it! I have been down and out for 2 solid months and now, tonight, I have a scratch throat, itchy eyes and stuffiness - a new cold on top of the remnants of an old one, on top of other health issues. I give already - hope we BOTH recover very quickly. Love the list - there are a few great ideas I'm going to try. Get well.

  4. Sub plans are worse than being sick. Interesting list of comforts, cranberry juice? My fave is cran-grape, that's my treat I don't get unless I am under the weather. Here's to a false alarm or speedy recovery.

  5. I can tell you spent a lot of time with our grandma. I think at least five of those would have been on her list too. Get well!
