Quiet weekend days
They are nothing like Monday
I want five not two
Yesterday, I met two old friends for coffee and we talked for a couple of hours. We shared a joke about how we thought the coffee bags were props until the employees actually went over to them to scoop up coffee. Our agenda was to discuss our family lives and work.We shared our struggles and offered one other encouragement. Weekend meetings require no written reports or follow-up work.
On weekend days, hard-working people can stay in bed as
long as they want. We have time to make breakfast and time to clean up
afterwards. Board games, cards, and favorite television programs are all
that is on our to-do list. The objective is to reconnect with loved ones and there is no assessment required. The check for understanding can be found in the sharing of dreams, hopes and wishes.
Oh wouldn't it be nice to have longer weekends. I hope you have many such weekends where you can offer encouragement and share your struggles with your friends.
ReplyDeleteI'm with you! I'd love some longer weekends. I enjoyed the references to our work week (objectives, assessments) in your descriptions of the weekend.
ReplyDeleteI love this...I'm not very good at relaxing and disconnecting. I also love the absences of assessments & checks for understanding in our weekends. Thanks for the reminder to disconnect when I can.
